Through effective landscape design your living space need not be confined by the four walls of your home.
Landscape design is the ultimate synthesis of form and function. For the homeowner it blends taste, use of the space and surroundings. These elements are molded together with the designer's knowledge and artistic ability into an environment that is not only aesthetically pleasing but functional as well.
At Nature's Cradle we feel that the input of the client is critical. This is your home. Express yourself! The more information you can provide to your designer the better the results will be. Create a wish list in which you discuss how you currently use different areas of your property as well as how you would like to use the space. Clip some magazine pages of landscapes, plants, or elements you like or jot down some properties that have elements you admire. This research will serve as a touchstone upon which you and your designer can begin to create a plan to optimize your outdoor space.
Design Process
Create a wish list
List what you'd love to see in your landscape. Plants, colors, stone, structures, materials, etc...
List things you don't like.
Meet with your designer
The designer offers input and ideas that make sense in terms of the architecture of your home and it's environment.
The designer then indicates the rough costs and advantages/disadvantages of the various materials you've chosen to highlight.
Create a Plan
The designer draws a sketch on site, mapping out the different areas of your design. The sketch gives you the gist of the layout without detailing plant quantities or specific plant placement.
For larger areas such as a foundation planting, the designer can return a more detailed sketch to you within a few days.
Blueprints are required to complete work in phases, work covering large areas, or designs incorporating multiple facets of landscape design (structures, hardspace, water, etc...). Exact placement of all items in the landscape are drawn to scale. Material quantities and construction details are spelled out to serve as a guide during construction.
